 Arctic Sun™     Cornus sanquinea 'Cato' ppaf'

 

A great new dwarf yellow twig dogwood that fits right into today's gardens and landscapes.

Arctic Sun is extremely compact selection of the popular 'Winter Flame' dogwood that is roughly 1/2 the height and with twice as many branches.  In the garden it provides more color because it has more stems.

Breed by noted plantsman Andre van Nijnatten.

Why it's Better: Arctic Sun was selected for it naturally compact stature and full branching. This means you do less pruning to keep it looking good. Its small size makes it the best choice for residential landscapes, or for commercial landscapes that require less maintenance. It also has brightly colored stems and superb fall color.

Soil:  Prefers well-drained, moist soil. pH adaptable

Pruning: Immediately after flowering. Sets flower buds in summer. Do not prune in early spring or late fall.

Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees & shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Andre, breeder of ‘Winter Flame’ brings us another special Cornus with beautiful yellow stems tipped with red. It’s a spectacular show in the winter sunlight. This variety is dwarf in form, reaching a height of 3 to 4 feet. Cornus usually reach a height of 8 to 10 feet, making Arctic Sun a great breakthrough for smaller gardens or residential landscapes.

This wonderful shrub will add sensational color in the fall with its golden yellow foliage. It is extremely beautiful in the winter with its yellow red tipped stems. Bring the outdoors in and use Arctic Sun as a cut stem for holiday arrangements or for season long color indoors.
