 Sugartina 'Crystalina'  Clethra alnifolia 'Crystalina'  ppaf, cpaf

 

We’ve been searching for the best dwarf Clethra and we found it in Sugartina. This Clethra is tight, dense, mounded plants with attractive dark glossy leaves. Developed by Dr. Thomas Ranney and his team at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research & Extension Center in North Carolina.

Hardiness:  USDA Zone 5

Bloom Time:  Late-summer to fall

Foliage Color:  Dark, glossy green

Size:  28-30" tall and wide

Exposure:  Full sun to partial shad

 

Soil:  Prefers moist, fertile soils but can tolerant drought once established

Pruning: Prune in late fall or early spring.

Watering: Medium moisture

Wildlife: Butterflies

Type: Deciduous

Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees & shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Uses: Cut flower, perennial or shrub border, in masses or groupings.
