Techny Arborvitae has long been regarded as the hardiest, most rugged of all the Arborvitae. Now we have Golden selection with same rugged hardiness. This plant is breakthrough in Gold arborvitae that has long been noted for being susceptible to winter damage. Not any longer. In over 8 years of testing this plant has never shown any burn or winter discoloration. In fact the color tends to get better during the winter.

Use Golden Techny as a specimen plant or as a hedge by itself our mixed in with regular Techny. It provides easy color that lasts all year long.

Bloom:  Not Available

Foliage:  Evergreen, rich gold color that intensifies in winter

Size:  10-15 feet tall, 5-6 feet wide

Exposure:  Full sun to partial shade

Soil: Requires deep, well-drained soil. Thrives in marshy loam.

Pruning: Best if done in late fall.

Watering: Medium moisture. Once established can tolerate drought, heat & limestone soils.

Wildlife: None

Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for evergreens. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Uses: Specimen or accent, good for hedges, foundation plants, shelter-belts and containers.

This colorful native evergreen has showy, rich gold foliage.  Unlike other golden arborvitae varieties, TECHNY GOLD actually shows improved, more intense gold color in the winter.

Tough, hardy, and easy to grow, this selection of Mission arborvitae resists winter burn and will provide durable golden color for four seasons.  Use it for screening or as an accent plant.  It can easily be incorporated into existing conifer plantings for a burst of bright color.
